Phyllis Jean Yates, 65, of Delphi, died at 4:20 p.m. Jan. 14, 1995, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.  She had been hospitalized this time for nine days.
  Born July 24, 1929, in Galveston, she was the daughter of Lieutenant Marshall and Fern Elizabeth Daggett Connelly.
  She was a 1948 graduate of Delphi High School and a 1971 graduate of the Lafayette Beauty Academy.
  She was a private duty nurse's aide for many years in the Delphi community and had worked from 1972 to 1979 at the Delphi Nursing Home, now Birchwood Health Care Center.
  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Delphi.
  Surviving are two daughters, Maria J. Moore of Delphi, and Nancy Jo Corbin of Campbellsville, Ky.; a son, Bradford N. Yates of Queens, N.Y.; a granddaughter who was raised in her home, Nicole Hartman of Williamsburg, Ky.; and two other granddaughter.  She was preceded in death by one sister.
  Services were today at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Ellis Gasser and Rev. James Rankin officiating.  Burial was in Galveston Cemetery.
  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
