William M. Myers - Class Of 1948 VIEW PROFILE

William M. Myers, 79, of Delphi, died at 6:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital.

Born March 4, 1930, in Delphi, he was the son of Homer A. Myers and Lodemia Chapman Myers.

A 1948 graduate of Delphi High School, he served in the National Guard from 1948 to 1959.

His married V. Meon Trent on April 23, 1960, in Delphi. She preceded him in death on June 23, 1990.

Mr. Myers retired as postmaster at Burrows in 1990 after 32 years of service. He also operated the Pro Shop at the Carroll County Country Club during the '60s and '70s. He built the No. 6 green at the golf course. He also had worked for his father at the Hoosier Call & Crow Co. in Delphi.

He was a member of the Camden Lions Club, the Hardee's Liar's Club and a former member of the Jaycees.

He enjoyed collecting crow calls and raising and caring for wildlife. He was a chronic tinkerer and was proud of the two-tier wall he built along the Deer Creek at his residence.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Kendall (husband: Robert) of Delphi; a son, James G. Myers of Delphi; and four sisters, Connie Hathaway (husband: Kenneth) of Lafayette, Mary Crary of Delphi, Jeane Riley of South Bend, and Donna Ward of Phoenix, Md.

Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, R. Scott Kendall and Lindsey Kendall.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, William David Myers in 1966, and his brothers, Wayne and Robert Myers.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9 with services at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 at Davidson Funeral Home, the Rev. Todd Ladd officiating. Interment Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.
