Orville Berkshire - Class Of 1943

  Orville Berkshire, 83, of Camden, Died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Monticello.

  Born Feb. 21, 1925, in Cass County, he was the son of Enos and Vernie Lee Fry Berkshire.  He graduated from Delphi High School in 1943.

  Mr. Berkshire served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

  A retired farmer, he was a lifetime resident of the Carroll County area.

  He enjoyed fishing with family and friends and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

  Surviving are two brothers, Keith Berkshire (wife: Beverly) of Burnettsville and Kenneth Berkshire (wife: Mary Ann) of Delphi; one sister, Margaret Ann Vernon (husband: James) of Indianapolis; several nephews and nieces; and several great-nephews and great nieces.

  Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cree Funeral Home, Camden.  Pastor Paul Marcellino will officiate.  Burial with military rites by the American Legion and VFW will be at Camden Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
