Helen Maxine Hathaway, 85, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Lafayette, died Thursday Dec. 22, 2011 at her Graceful Living home. Born Nov. 5, 1926, at home, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Esther Clawson. She graduated from Delphi High School in 1944. On Aug. 31, 1946, she married Donald Eugene Hathaway, who died on the same day in 2009.

Mrs. Hathaway was a loan officer for Bank One until 1989. She lived most of her life in the Delphi and Lafayette area, moving to Hemet, Calif. after her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the Radnor United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Risa Young (husband: Douglas), and Michelle Madera (husband: Thomas); two sons, William Hathaway (wife: Sandra) and Stan Hathaway; two sisters, Eileen Clawson and Doris Cook.
