Dorothy Clifford (Lidester) - Class Of 1944

Dorothy Ann (Clifford) Lidester, 91 of Lafayette, passed away on March 29, 2018 at St. Mary’s Healthcare. Born December 3, 1926 in Delphi, Indiana, she was the daughter to the late James and Helen (McKay) Clifford. Dorothy graduated from Delphi High School and attended two years at the Indiana University School of Business. Dorothy worked as a clerk at Lafayette Life Insurance for 20 years, at Purdue University for several years and was a Fuller Brush sales woman for a brief time. After Dorothy retired, she volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital for over 20 years at the registration desk.

Dorothy was a member of the Cathedral of St. Mary of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth Healthcare Auxiliary Legion of Mary and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed reading, walking, working at funeral dinners, and loved time spent with family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by son David (Janelle) Lidester of Mount Pleasant, WI; two daughters, Linda Leveillee of San Diego, CA and Diane (Jim) Mahalko of LaGrange Park, IL; two sisters Mary Christie of Indianapolis, IN and Joan Clifford of Los Angeles, CA and daughter-in-law, Julie Lidester of Sanibel, FL. Dorothy is also survived by her grandchildren; Jami (Darrell) Talbert, Nicole Lidester, Kimberly Lidester, Mary Lidester, Annie Mansfield, Frank Lidester, John Lidester, Crystal (Taylor) Cornwall, Luke Leveillee, Lauren Mahalko, Melanie Mahalko, Anna (Andrew) Henn, Samuel Lidester, Claire (Joel) Hans, Joseph Lidester, Daniel Lidester and 13 beloved great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Lee; daughter, Joan Marie “Joni”; son Thomas James; three sisters, Marjorie Clifford, infant Marie Clifford, and Helen Bernard; three brothers, James R. “Dick”, John E. “Jack” and Maurice F. Clifford.

The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to Mass of Christian burial at Cathedral of St. Mar y of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Wednesday April 4, 2:00PM with Father Jeff Martin presiding.
