Robert F. Freitag, 71, died at 7:15 PM Wednesday, June 24 1998, in Home Hospital. The son of the late William H. and Anna M. Newell Freitag, he was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Morgan County, IL. He graduated from Delphi High School, and had lived in Lafayette most of his life. He married Dolores L. Vernon on Aug. 8, 1953, in Lafayette; she survives. Mr. Freitag was retired from the Lafayette Fire Department and he served in the Army during World War II. Surviving with his wife are three sisters, Rosemary (Mrs. Robert) Owens of Leroy, IL, Helen (Mrs. Robert) Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kathryn Eckman of Lafayette; a brother, Jack Freitag of Delphi; a granddaughter, a grandson, three great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Steve Allen Freitag; and a daughter, Candy Sue Freitag. Service July 27 at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, the Rev. R. Clayton Kendall officiating. --
