Joan Patton (Maxwell) - Class Of 1944 VIEW PROFILE

Joan Patton Maxwell, 88, of Delphi, died Wed.-Dec. 31, 2014 at 1:15am in her apartment at Westminster Village, West Lafayette. She was born May 25, 1926 in Lafayette, to the late Harold & Wilma Loy Patton. Her marriage was to Robert M. "Bob" Maxwell on Easter Sunday Apr. 6, 1947 in Delphi, and he preceded her in death on July 24, 2011. She was a 1944 graduate of Delphi High School, and attended Indiana University for 2 years, studying business. She worked for 1 year at Purdue University in the Veteran Administration Office, and then helped her husband on their family farm for 60 years, raising cattle & hogs, and grain. She was a 60-year member of the Delphi United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Love Circle, and the United Methodist Women. She received her 70-year pin from the Delphi Tri Kappa Sorority, and was a member of the associate chapter of Tri Kappa currently. She enjoyed playing bridge, and loved to go shopping. She and her husband wintered in Zellwood Station, FL for 26 years, and they had traveled to all 50 States, traveled in Europe, and went on many cruises. She dearly loved her daughter and son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law, and her grand and great-grandchildren. They were her life. Surviving: daughter-Susan & Tom Freeman of Lafayette; son-R. Phil & Teresa Maxwell of Delphi; grandchildren: Dr. Anne & Dr. Christian Ball, Ryan & Sara Freeman, Rob & Jennifer Maxwell, Jared & Breanna Maxwell, David & Amanda Maxwell, Karen & Brian Clawson; great-grandchildren: Maxwell "Max" & Elliott Ball, Charlotte & Jack Freeman, Taylor, Ethan, Ian, Eva, Savannah, & Isla Maxwell, Brasen & Luke Clawson. Preceded in death by an inf. sister Sharon Kay Patton; an inf. grandson Allen Maxwell. Services: Friends may call Monday from 11am until her funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating. Burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg. A Tri Kappa Sorority Memorial service will be at 10:45am Monday at the funeral home.
