David Pauley - Class Of 1944

David "Dave" R. Pauley passed away on May 30, 2024, at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal IL.

Dave was born on September 3, 1926, in Battleground Indiana, the son of LD and Marie Pauley. He served in the US Navy from 1944 – 1946 as a radioman. Dave graduated from DePauw University and Northern Illinois University. In 1955 he moved into his lifelong career…education. Dave was a history teacher before becoming Principal at Parkview, Valley View and Irene King elementary schools in Romeoville. He retired in 1985. Dave lived in Plainfield until he moved to Auburndale FL, Knoxville IL, and Bloomington/Normal Illinois.

Dave met and married Alice Marlene (Chris) Ring. He is survived by Susan (Steve) Cravens of Danvers and Michael Pauley of Peoria, his grandsons Ian Fetters of Lakewood CO, Ben (Caleb) Fetters of Bloomington, and Max Fetters of Bloomington.

Dave's favorite pastime was "Pauley Park", the home where he and Chrissy hosted many relatives and friends. He was an avid golfer. Dave was an advocate of technology and was well known for his love of photography. His first and deepest love was always for his family.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday June 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Overman Jones Funeral Home, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL 60544. Inurnment will follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery.
