Almeda Popejoy (Brubaker) - Class Of 1944

Almeda Jean Popejoy Brubaker, 86, of Flora, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday Apr 22, 2012, at Milner Community Healthcare-Rossville. She had been a resident there for 2 1/2 years, and in failing health the past month. She was born Feb 19, 1926 in Carroll County, IN, to the late Jennings Hugh Dean and Mary Anna Sherman Popejoy.

Her marriage was to Robert Lowell Brubaker in Flora, on Jan 20, 1945, and he survives. She was a 1944 graduate of Delphi High School. She was a bookkeeper for many years working at the former Lamont Jordan, CPA, former Stout Insurance Agency, and Zinn Kitchen Cabinet's Inc, all of Flora. She also helped on their family farm, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Living Faith Church of the Brethren, and Gideon's International Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, traveling, oil & water color painting, music, singing & playing the piano.

Surviving along with her husband are two sons, Blaine Brubaker (wife: Brend) and Lynn Brubaker (wife: Sue) of Delphi; a daughter, Wanda Howell (husband: Gene) of Logansport; a sister, Marilyn Collins of Delphi; a brother, Jerry Popejoy (wife: Lorraine) of Delphi; 7 grandchildren, Amy and Dan Ritter; Angela and Mike Kingery; Nicole Brubaker; Lori Brubaker; Ryan Gross; David Gross-companion Amanda Killbourne; Lynnette and Jeremy Houser, and 6 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Houser; Troy Houser; Ashlan Kingery; Jaelyn Kingery; Natalie Ritter; Jalen Gross.

 Preceded in death by an infant daughter Wanda Jean Brubaker, who lived for 4 days.

 Friends may call Tuesday from 11 a.m. until her funeral at 1 p.m. at Baker-Abbott Funeral Home, Flora. Pastor Jeff Tomson officiating. Burial at Maple Lawn Cemetery-Flora.
