 Oscar H. "Junior" Mannies, 55, Danville, former Delphi High School basketball coach, died of cancer at his home on Friday, March 18, 1983.
  Born July 19, 1927 in Peru, he was the son of Oscar Mannies and Louise (Gaiser) Mannies Wise of Peru.  He was married on Jan. 8, 1950, to Rachel Enyert, who survives with his mother.
  A member of the Danville United Methodist Church and Indiana High School Athletic Association, he was an eight-time recipient of the coach-of-the-year award throughout Indiana.  A varsity basketball coach for 29 years, he held coaching positions in Delphi, Elwood, Lewis Cass, Mississinewa, Washington township near Logansport and Danville high schools.  He was athletic director at Danville at the time of his death.  He was author of the annual Indiana High School Basketball Record Book and served as placement director for Indiana High School Coaches Association.
  Other survivors include two daughters, Jo Ellen Gierse, Washington, D.C. and Patricia Ann Karrick, Terre Haute; two sons, Gary John of Elwood, and David Lynn, at home; a sister; a step-brother; three step-sisters; and a grandchild.
  Burial was held in Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
  Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Hendricks County chapter of the American Cancer Society.
