Charles Johns - Class Of 1939

 Charles Reed Johns, 76, of Delphi, died at 7:56 a.m. March 17, 1998, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was a patient since March 13.
  Born April 20, 1921, in Jefferson Township, Carroll County, he was the son of Charles V. and Blanche Bickell Johns.  His marriage was on Oct. 23, 1939, in Lafayette, to Mary E. Shepard, who survives.
  He was a life resident of Carroll County and farmed in Jefferson Township until retiring in 1965.
  He was a 1939 graduate of Delphi High School.
  Mr. Johns was a member of Carroll County Farm Bureau and a former member of the Yeoman United Methodist Church.  He collected miniature toy tractors.
  Also surviving are two sons, Charles William Johns of Romeoville, Ill., and Mark Lewis Johns of Delphi; two daughters, Cherie Larimore of West Lafayette and Mary Beth Johns of Delphi; a half brother, Dean Goslee of Yeoman; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Jane Landis, a special friend, also survives.  He was preceded in death by an infant son.
  Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiating.  Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
