Clay Maxwell - Class Of 1939

Clay M. Maxwell, 96, former Carroll County & Rossville resident, died Wed.-June 21, 2017 at 9:15am, at Cumberland Point Health Campus, West Lafayette. He was born Apr 20, 1921 in Carroll Co., IN, to the late Samuel & Bertha Million Maxwell. His marriage was to Maxine B. Lowery in Cutler, on Jan 4, 1941, and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2011. He farmed in Jefferson Township for many years, and worked at the former RCA Plant in Monticello, and drove a school bus for Twin Lakes School Corp., for many years. They lived in Jefferson Township, Carroll County, for many years, then moved to Monticello for 11 years, then to Bradenton, FL for 26 years, before moving back to Rossville in 2009. He attended Delphi High School. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church. He enjoyed the Chicago Cubs Baseball Team, auto racing, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He liked to cook, and travel with his wife and family. He enjoyed playing euchre. Surviving: daughters-Diana Heckert of Lafayette, Sue & Jay Wolf of Vincennes, Jan Maxwell of Granger; son-Jack & Elizabeth Maxwell of Ottawa, KS; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by inf twin sons; son in law David Hill; 2 sisters. Services: Friends may call Saturday-July 8, 2017 from 10am-11:30am at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Graveside committal service to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Carroll County, Rev. Laura Penney Bade officiating.
