Mary Miller (Lentner) - Class Of 1939

Mary M. Lentner, 88, of Delphi, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

Born April 4, 1921, in Pyrmont, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Minnie Wagoner Miller. She graduated from Delphi High School in 1939, attended Indiana University and graduated from Southland Beauty College.

She married Jack R. Lentner on Jan. 13, 1946, at Pyrmont.

Mrs. Lentner had worked for more than 13 years as a clerk for the Beesley Deparment Store and 10 years at the Kenworthy's Grocery, both in Delphi, and at Marinello Beauty Shop in the Fowler Hotel at Lafayette.

She was a member of Living Faith Church of the Brethren, in Flora, and a former member of Pittsburg Church of the Brethren. She also was a member of the women's fellowship group and served as Sunday school teacher and treasurer of the building fund for the Pittsburg Church of the Brethren. She volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels and enjoyed sending greeting cards, baking angel food cakes, banana bread and playing the piano.

Surviving are her husband; daughters, Susan Morris (husband: Ron) of Noblesville, Linda Landes (husband: Gerald) of Camden; and a sister, Anna Mae Miller of Lafayette.

Also surviving are granddaughters, Andrea Bognar of Westfield, Katie Svec of Noblesville; stepgranddaughter, Tammy Scruggs of Royal Center; a great-grandson; 6 great-granddaughters; 2 stepgreat-grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers, Doyle, Paul and Earl Miller; half-sister, Olive Bantz; and half-brothers, Kenneth, Max, Alton and Russell Miller.
