Marjorie Clifford - Class Of 1939

Marjorie Clifford, 93, of Delphi, passed away on March 1, 2015.

Marjorie was born on November 9, 1921 in Delphi to the late James Andrew and Helen Maude (McKay) Clifford. She was a 1939 graduate of Delphi High School, earned her B.S. in Home Economics from Purdue University in 1947 and Master’s Degree from Ball State University in 1965.

Marjorie had taught Home Economics in Perry Township and North White High School before working in the food service department at the Indiana Veteran’s Home where she retired.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, Trip Kappa, St. Elizabeth Healthcare Auxiliary, Singles Group, Modern Homemaker, Delphi Home Ec Club, American Legion Auxiliary and Phi Epsilon.

Marjorie enjoyed dining out with her friends and meeting people and traveling. She loved volunteering and walking with her dog, Benji.

Surviving are sisters: Dorothy Ann Lidester of Lafayette, Mary Patricia Christie of Indianapolis, Joan R. Clifford of Los Angeles, California; sisters-in-law: Martha L. Clifford of West Lafayette, Mary L. Clifford of Delphi, Phyllis J. Clifford of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Robert R. Bernard of Carmichael, California, and several nieces and nephews and their children.

Marjorie was preceded by brothers: Maurice F. Clifford, James. R. “Dick” Clifford, John E. “Jack” Clifford; and sisters: Helen F. Bernard and infant sister, Marie Clifford.

Viewing will be on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi with Father Bob Williams officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Delphi.
