Lawerence Spivey - Class Of 1939

 

  Lawrence Spivey, 42, a Delphi native and well known here, died at 4:30 Sunday afternoon while playing golf at Columbus, Indiana, where he was resided the past two years. 

  Born here June 28, 1920, his parents were Frank and Ada Haines Spivey.  He was an x-ray technician for 10 years in the military service, serving in World War II and Korea and then spent 12 years as an x-ray technician with the Veterans Administration.

  At Columbus, he was a member of the First Methodist church and the Exchange club and in May of this year had unsuccessfully sought the nomination for Mayor of Columbus on the Republican ticket.

  His marriage in 1948 was to Kathryn Kastings of Seymour, Indiana.  The family home was at 1503 Rudduck Avenue, Columbus.  In recent years he had served as Indiana Distributor for the Scientific Foundation of Pasadena, California, of which he was a director.

  Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Linda, age five; three sisters, June Walch of Muncie; Mrs. E. Burton Swaim and Mrs. Inez McGuire of Anderson; two brothers, John of Manistee, Michigan and George of Anderson.

  Funeral rites were held Wednesday at the Hathaway funeral home in Columbus with Drs. Merritt McFall and Lloyd Lanhan officiating.  Burial was in Seymour, Indiana.
