Mike went to St Joseph College for one semester after graduation but returned to Burrows because of his Mom's failing health. He served in the Army as a dental assistant but after a 1 1/2 yr he was released due to the hardship of his mother's health. His mother had cancer. He worked in the repair shop of the Pennsylvannia Railroad Co in Logansport, was one of the first technicians in Indiana for the American Breeders Service, Meat Inspector For Wilsons Foods in Logansport. 
 

  F. Michael Guckien, 62, of Burrows, was dead on arrival at 10:07 p.m. Monday, September 24, 1984, at Memorial Hospital, Logansport, of an apparent heart attack.
  Born July 21, 1922, in Carroll County, he was the son of Sylvester and Callie West Guckien.  His marriage was April 19, 1944, in Lucerne to Margaret Montgomery and she survives.
  Guckien had worked with the American Breeding Service in Carroll County for 32 years.  He also worked several years for Wilson Foods in Logansport, retiring in 1976 due to his health.
  An active member of the Carroll County Democratic Central Committee, Guckien was a former treasurer for the committee and served as precinct committeeman in Burrows for nearly 30 years.
  A World War II Army veteran, he had served on the board of the Burrows Community Club and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi, and Camden American Legion Post 413.
  Surviving with his wife are one son, Sylvester Guckien of Frankfort; three daughters, Kay Trent of Delphi, Mary Kittle of Flora, and Marie Clawson of Burrows; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
  Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Wieber officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.  Friends will be received at Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary service set for 7 p.m.
  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Carroll County Association for Retarded Citizens and the Carroll County Heart Association.
