Robert W. Jones - Class Of 1940

  Robert W. Jones, 74, of 9604 Pine Ridge East Drive, Fishers, died at 10:55 a.m. Dec. 17, 1996, at St. Vincent Hospice Center in Indianapolis. Born April 19, 1922, in Carroll County, he was the son of Philip and Maude Misner Jones. His marriage was on Sept. 29, 1945, in Naples, Italy, to Rosa Chianese, who survives. He formerly farmed in northern Carroll County and was a salesman for Shrock-Tuloma near Yeoman. He moved to Kokomo in 1972 and worked at Delco Electronics at Kokomo for 14 years before retiring. He had lived in Fishers for the past seven years and also had lived in Indianapolis for 12 years. A 1940 graduate of Delphi High School, he was in the Army in "World War II, serving in northern Africa and Italy. He was a member of Delphi American Legion Post 75 and a former member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello. Also surviving are three daughters, Darlene Hattersley of Orina, Calif., Lynette DeCoursey of Indianapolis, and Shirley Carrier of Penn Yan, N.Y.; a son, Phillip Jones of Middletown, Md.; a brother, John Jones of Monticello; and eight grandchildren. One sister is deceased. Services were Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi with Father Peter Vanderkolk officiating. Burial was in Yeoman Cemetery with American Legion rites. Horn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
