William Schnepp - Class Of 1940

William B. Schnepp I, 70, of Lafayette, died at 1:36 p.m. Feb. 8, 1993, in St. Elizabeth Hospital.
  Born March 31, 1922, in Carroll County, he was the son of Christopher C. and Catherine Harlen Schnepp.  His marriage was on June 12, 1954, in West Lafayette, to Betty Mitchell, who survives.
  He retired in 1988 from Purdue University where he worked in the Physical Plant for 24 years.  He also farmed all his life in Tippecanoe County and drove a school bus for the Tippecanoe School Corporation in the Harrison district.
  A 1940 graduate of Delphi High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942-1945.  He served in the 12th Field Observation Battalion.
  He was a member of the Delphi First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 75, Mount Olive Masonic Lodge 48, IOOF Lodge 28, and Tippecanoe County Farm Bureau.
  Also surviving are his mother, of rural Lafayette; three sons, William B. Schnepp II of rural Lafayette, Russell Dean Schnepp at home, and James Christopher Schnepp of Worton, Md.; a daughter, Sara Rouse of rural Lafayette; two sisters, Emma Louise Dillman of Hawthorne, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating.  Friends may call today from 5-8 p.m.  Burial with American Legion military rites, will be in Masonic Cemetery.
  Memorials may be made to the Lung Association, Heart Association, or First Presbyterian Church.
