George Francis Willis, 56, of Camden, died at 8:50 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at his residence.

Born April 1, 1953, in Oakland City, he was the son of the late Arleigh Willis and Patty George Willis.  A 1971 graduate of Delphi Community High School, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War, 1972-1974.  He married Donnabelle Hammond on Aug. 16, 1986, in Flora.

Mr. Willis worked for Co-Alliance and previously was a semi truck driver for 20 years at Ed Angle Trucking.  He was a PRO ET class race car driver at Bunker Hill Dragstrip in his 1968 Camaro called Grandpa's Toy. He was the 2009 runner up in the wheelstand contest.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, John Johnson (wife: Angie) of Camden and Kenneth Johnson who lived at home; two daughters, Karen Sparks (husband: Jerry) of Camden and Kristy Jones (husband: Steve) of Kokomo; three sisters, Barbara Johns of Yeoman and Bonnie Curtis and Gayle Kamp, both of Lafayette; and two brothers, Thomas Willis and Terry Willis, both of Lafayette.

Also surviving are 4 granddaughters, Karlee Sparks, Erika Johnson, Jessie Jones and Jennah Jones; and a grandson, Brent Johnson.  He was preceded in death by a brother.
