Joan Jackson (Hammond)

 R. Joan Jackson Hammond, 71, of Delphi, died unexpectedly May 16, 2001, at her residence.
  Born July 4, 1929, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Clarence Jackson and Evelyn Moore Jackson Huffer.  Her marriage was to Harry J. Hammond in Delphi, on October 31, 1947.  He preceded her in death on May 31, 1988.
  Mrs. Hammond attended New Hope and Delphi High School.  She was a waitress at various restaurants in Delphi, and always volunteered at the local blood mobile drives.
  She was a member of Delphi United Methodist Church and belonged to Delphi American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed working in her flower garden and raising her pets.
  Surviving are two sons, Tony Hammond of Delphi, and Clarence Hammond of Cavazzale, Italy; a brother, Jack Jackson of Battle Ground; a sister, Betty J. Turner of Flora; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
  Services were May 14 at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi, with Pastor Brent Oliver officiating.  Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
