Mary L. Fisher (Riley) - Class Of 1929

Mary L. Fisher Riley, 83, of Monticello, formerly of Rt. 2, Brookston, died at 6:23 p.m., January 16, 1996 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
  Born March 31, 1912, at Rt. 4, Delphi, she was the daughter of John and Lula Magdalene Barnhart Fisher.  She was a 1929 graduate of Delphi High School.
  Her marriage was on April 8, 1933, in Delphi, to James Whitcomb Riley Sr., who died Oct. 16, 1978.
  She had helped her husband farm and had been a volunteer cook at the Pittsburg school.
  She was a member of the Springboro Road Worthwhile Club, Euchre Club, Tipwa Grange, and Carroll County Farm Bureau, a former member of the Flora Church of the Brethren.
  She moved from the Brookston area to Monticello in 1986.
  Surviving are one son, Jim Riley, and one daughter, Marjorie Potts, both of Rt. 2, Brookston; a brother, Glenn Fisher, and a sister, Anna Maxwell, both of Delphi; three grandchildren; six step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two infant sons, three brothers, and four sisters.  A fourth brother, John E. Fisher, died the day after her death, on Jan. 17.
  Services were Friday in Brookston, with burial in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
