G. Mahlon Kerlin, 89, of Rt. 2, Delphi, died at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 17, 1996, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center.
  Born Nov. 27, 1906, in Delphi, he was the son of Cloid and Georgia Gregg Kerlin.  His marriage was on May 10, 1941, in Delphi, to Edna Johnson, who survives.
  A 1925 graduate of Delphi High School, he graduated from Wabash College and Indiana University School of Law, now Benjamin Harrison Law School.  He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity at Wabash.
  He began his law practice in Delphi in 1932 and served as Carroll County Prosecuting Attorney from 1936 to 1940.
  In 1952 he was elected a state representative to the Legislature, representing Carroll and Cass Counties.  He served two terms.
  He was founder and co-owner of SAYCO Valve Co., in Flora from 1947 to 1980, and served as the company's secretary-treasurer.  He also owned Roth Park on Lake Freeman from 1955 to 1960.  It became Pirate's Roost and he owned that until 1980.
  An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theatre with the 342nd General Hospital as an X-ray technician.
  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Delphi, Indiana Bar Association, Carroll County Bar Association.  American Legion Post 75 in Delphi, Elks Lodge in Lafayette, Murat Shrine in Indianapolis, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, and Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge 48 and IOOF Lodge 28, both in Delphi.  He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Delphi and a former member of the Carroll County Country Club.
  He was active in Republican politics in Carroll County for many years.  In 1983 he was presented the Samuel Milroy award given annually by the Delphi Chamber of Commerce to an outstanding citizen.
  Also surviving are one daughter, Kathy Junersfeld of Anderson; a son, George M. Kerlin of Rt. 2, Delphi, a brother, William Kerlin of West Lafayette; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
  Services were today at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating.  Burial was in IOOF Memorial Gardens, Delphi.
