Lillian Brown (Ayres) - Class Of 1926

 Lillian Brown Ayres, 86, of Rt. 1, Cutler, died at 2:20 a.m. Sept. 8, 1993, at Milner Healthcare Center, Rossville.  She had been a resident there since 1989.
  Born Jan. 2, 1907, in Delphi, she was the daughter of Samuel and Jessie Arnott Brown.  Her marriage was on Aug. 12, 1932, in Flora, to Loren D. Ayres, who was one of Indiana's first state troopers.  He died Sept. 21, 1984.
  A 1926 graduate of Delphi High School and a graduate of Indiana Business College, she was a secretary to the superintendent of Delphi Schools during the 1940s.  During the 1950s, she worked at the Registrar's office at Indiana University.
  She lived in Bloomington from 1949-57, in Lafayette from 1957-63, and in Indianapolis from 1963-74. She lived near Cutler from 1974 until she moved to Milner's.
  She was a member of Flora First Christian Church and a life member of Rose Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, now Carroll Chapter.  She was a member of the Delphi chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority, and had been a member of the chapters in Lafayette and Indianapolis.
  Surviving are one daughter, Phyllis Jean Courter of Rt. 1, Cutler; two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
  Services were Friday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. James Rankin officiating.  Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
  Memorials may be made to donor's favorite charity.
