Dan Lybrook

Daniel Lee Lybrook, 74, of 403 N. Union St., Delphi, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. He had been a resident there since March 29, and had been battling cancer since July 2009.

Born Jan. 10, 1936, in Pittsburg, he was the son of the late C. Frank and Ethel Hornbeck Lybrook. He was a 1954 graduate of Delphi High School, and completed Purdue University's short course on agriculture. He was in the Indiana National Guard for four years at Delphi.

On Feb. 18, 1962, he married Linda L. Lachenmaier in Delphi, and she survives.

Mr. Lybrook farmed in Tippecanoe and Jefferson townships in Carroll County for many years. He and his son, Bruce, operated Carroll County Automotive from 1985 to 2001. He then did carpentry work and residential repair for several years, and worked seasonally for Crop Production Services in Delphi as a truck driver.

He was a longtime member of Delphi United Methodist Church and Delphi IOOF Lodge. He was elected to the Delphi Community School Board of Trustees from 1980-1984, and was currently on the board of directors of Yeoman Telephone Co.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and bowling, and he and his wife belonged to a euchre club for over 40 years.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, David A. Lybrook of Delphi and Darryl Lybrook (wife: Michelle) of Chalmers; and a sister, Joy Hammer (husband: Harry) of Prescott, Ariz.

Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Frances Lachenmaier of Delphi; and grandchildren, Shannon, Clint, Garth and Holli Lybrook. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce; and a sister, Alyne.
