Phyllis J. Ayres Courter, 75, formerly of Cutler, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at Milner Community Healthcare Center in Rossville. She had resided there for the past 23 months.

She was born March 22, 1933, in Delphi, to the late Loren and Lillian Brown Ayres. She was a 1951 graduate of Delphi High School and attended Indiana University.

She was a homemaker and worked at the Rossville Antique Mall, which she co-owned with her son. She had also worked at CJ's Hallmark Shop and the former I&W Fashion store, both in Delphi.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Flora, Psi Iota Xi sorority, Jaycee's club in Bloomington, and the Bloomington Boy Scouts. She enjoyed crafts, oil painting and ceramics.

Surviving are two sons, Scott Courter (wife: Jo) of Noblesville and James Courter (wife: Mary) of Cutler.

Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
