Elizabeth Amick (McCormick) - Class Of 1927

Elizabeth A. "Betty" McCormick, 79, of Delphi, died at 4:04 p.m. June 6, 1990, in the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
  Born Sept. 4, 1910, in Elnora, she was the daughter of C.T. and Lucy Hulse Amick.  She came to Delphi from Sheridan as a young girl.
  Her marriage was June 25, 1939, in Delphi, to Watson C. McCormick. He was judge of the Carroll Circuit Court and preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1973.
  She was a graduate of Delphi High School, attended Western College at Oxford, Ohio, and received her bachelor's degree from Purdue University.  She received her elementary teacher's license in 1956 from Indiana University and her master's degree from Purdue in 1961.
  She taught at Monon High School in 1938 and at Camden High School in 1939.  From 1953 to 1956 she taught in Monroe Township schools.  She began teaching at Delphi in 1956 and retired in 1972.  She taught fourth and fifth grades.
  Mrs. McCormick was a member of the Delphi First Presbyterian Church where she was an elder, deacon, long-time member of the choir, and former Clerk of Session.  She also was a 50-year member of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority, and a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Carroll County Teachers Association, ISTA, NEA, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Purdue, Oracle Club, Wednesday Afternoon Reading Club, and Indiana Historical Society.
  Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn E. McCormick of Leavenworth, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by one sister.
  Services were Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ellis Gasser and Rev. James Rankin officiating.  Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.  Horn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
  Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Delphi Public Library.
