Ron Harshman

Mr.  Ronald K Harshman, 82, of Rochester,  passed away at 5:53 AM, Tuesday, August 16th, at Life Care Center of Rochester.
 
In Frankfort, on May 29, 1934, Ronald  K. was born.  He was one of a set of treasured twin sons born to Dallas and Inez Carr Harshman.  Ron shared his childhood with his twin brother Don,  and three sisters: Brenda, Peggy and Karen.  With great pride he graduated in 1953 as a proud member of his Delphi High School class.  Following high school, patriotism beckoned, Ron answered the call serving our country with the United States Navy for four years.  His stint included tours of the Suez Canal and Newport, RI.
 
On October 27, 1956, Ron  married the love of his life Joan D. Boas,  in Fall River, MA Their vows were solemnized at the Notre Dame Catholic Church.  Together they shared nearly six decades of life's adventures.  From their union came three wonderful children: Kathy, Kelly and Skip.  Over the years the family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
 
Ron was a loyal member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church since moving to Rochester in 1964.  During his professional career he was a supervisor at Accra-Pak for 17 years.  Many will remember him at Chamberlin Products of Akron.
 
An avid golfer, Ron enjoyed the game, as the second love of his life!  He enjoyed teeing off and hitting the links around courses in northern Indiana.  Joan and Ron spent several winters in Florida sharing good times and making memories with their family. As an armchair athlete he was devoted to the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed cheering for the Notre Dame men of the grid iron.

Ronald is  survived by his wife, Joan;  two daughters: Katherine Ann Amor and husband Bruce of Indianapolis, Kelly Lynn Rockow and husband David, of Port Charlotte, FL; a son, David Clifford “Skip” Harshman and wife Kathi of Baltimore, MD;  11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren;  a sister, Brenda Godwin  of Arcadia; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ron in death are his parents; twin brother Donald Harshman; two sisters: Peggy and Karen; and three brothers-in-law: Skip Godwin, James McCurry and Fred Nolte.

Private family service will be held  in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester.  Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard and the US Navy Honor Guard.
