Lucille Sanderson (Crowel)

Lucile Crowel, 89, of rural Delphi, died at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 20, 1997, in White County Memorial Hospital, following an illness of six months.
  Born June 17, 1907, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Lula J. Snyder Sanderson.  Her marriage was on Nov. 4, 1932, to Lewis G. Crowel, who died Sept. 3, 1969.
  She was a 1925 graduate of Delphi High School and a graduate of Indiana State University.
  She was an elementary schoolteacher in Camden and Burrows for several years, and farmed with her husband for a number of years.
  Mrs. Crowel was active in the Carroll County Democrat Women's Association and was a member of the Camden Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, White County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Adams Township Homemakers Club.  She also was a member of the Hickory Grove United Church of Christ.
  Surviving are one son, Brice S. Crowel of Delphi; one daughter, Phyllis Mazaika of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Lee Crowel, and two brothers.
  Services were Monday at the Hickory Grove United Church of Christ with Pastor Richard Renser officiating.  Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
