William Clauser

 Dr. William Joseph Clauser, 49, a native of Delphi and a member of, a prominent Carroll county family, died Christmas Eve at the house of a friend at Orleans, Massachusetts.  Dr. Clauser was a practicing psychiatrist in Boston and had gone to the home of the friends for the holiday when he was stricken with a heart attack.

  Born here July 22, 1908, he was the son of Dr. Albert and Mary Sims Clauser.  After graduating from Delphi High School he attended DePauw University where he graduated in 1929 as a Rector scholar.  He received his medical degree from Indiana University in 1932 and interned at Cleveland City Hospital, Billings Hospital in Chicago and Peter Bent Brigham hospital in Boston.

  Dr. Clauser also was associated with Dr. E P. Joslin at Beacon hospital in Boston; at the Philip Andover Academy; Boston State hospital; Boston Psychiatric Hospital.  During World War II he served as a Lt. Commander and was stationed at Parris Island from 1943 until 1945.

  He opened his own office for practice of psychiatry in 1947 and was a lecturer at Harvard University.

  He was a member of the Presbyterian church in Delphi; a Phi Beta Kappa, Delta Chi fraternity member; a member of Nu Sigma Nu and Alpha Omega Alpha fraternities.

  Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Mary S. Clauser of 2820 Union, Lafayette; two brothers, Stewart of Lafayette and Robert of Detroit.  Mayor Roy Clauser of Delphi is an uncle of the deceased.  John Sims of Chicago is another surviving uncle.

  The body was brought to the Eikenberry funeral home in Delphi on Saturday.  Funeral rites were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Delphi Presbyterian church with Rev. James William Rankin officiating.  Burial was in Masonic cemetery.
