Ernest C. Murphy, 77, formerly of Delphi, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday November 23, 1985, in the Hanover Nursing Home Center in Hanover, In. He had been a patient there since July. Born February 8, 1908 in Indiana he worked at Fairfield Mfg. Co. in Lafayette, in the late 1940's. He also worked at the old Ford garage in Delphi and farmed at Route 4 Delphi, before becoming ill in the late 1950's. Mr. Murphy was a former member of Mount Olive Masonic lodge in Delphi. Surviving are three daughters, Sandra Murphy and Mrs. Cheryl Zapinski of Merrillville. Carolyn Murphy of Lafayette, and a son Thomas Murphy of Friendswood Texas. Services were held at the Horn Funeral Home on Tuesday November 26, 1985, with the Rev. Raymond Skelton officiating. Interment in the Masonic Cemetery in Delphi. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
