Leola Short - Class Of 1926

Leola Short age 19 years died Tuesday morning at 10:30 at the Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis after an illness of about three months with kidney trouble. She was taken to the Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis on November 4th and every effort made to save her life. Several weeks ago when it became known that she must undergo an operation and was in so weakened a condition that a blood transfusion was necessary, seventeen Delphi high school students and citizens went to Indianapolis and offered to give of their blood. Merton Baird, teacher in the Delphi grades was chosen for the transfusion operation, but it was of no avail and she gradually failed until her death. She was brought to her home Tuesday evening in the Blythe ambulance and taken to her home. She was a senior in the Delphi High School and was much liked by all of her school mates. She is survived by her parents, Newton and Mattie Morrisett Short, a sister Jessie and four younger brothers. Raymond, Ross, Philip and Richard. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Short services will he held at the home and she will then be taken to the Delphi Presbyterian church where the funeral services will be held. She will be buried in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
