Maxine Humes, 88, Flora, died June 30, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. Born Sept. 20, 1910, in Flora, she was the daughter of Willis F. and Gertrude Billman Mummert. Her marriage was June 15, 1929, in Flora, to Fred Humes, who survives. A housewife, Mrs. Humes had worked as a school secretary at Flora, and for Bright National Bank. She was a member of Flora First Christian Church, former choir director and librarian, and past president of the CWF at the church. She was an alumnus member of Beta Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi in Flora. Mrs. Humes graduated from Flora High School in 1927, and attended Ft. Wayne Business College. Services were Saturday in Reinke Funeral Home, with Pastor Pamela Ditson-McCall officiating. Burial was in Maple Lawn Cemetery.
