Lloyd Vanscoy - Class Of 1928

  Lloyd Martin VanScoy, 82, of Rt. 1, Delphi, died unexpectedly at 10:48 a.m. Feb. 18, 1993, in the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
  He was born July 18, 1910, in Yeoman.  He was a 1928 graduate of Delphi High School and a 1932 graduate of Indiana University.
  A retired Carroll County farmer, he also had worked several years as a construction supervisor for highways and roads in the southern United States.
  He was a World War II Navy veteran and served with the Seabees in the South Pacific.
  He was a member of Delphi American Legion Post 75; Mount Olive Masonic Lodge 48 of Delphi; Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Valley; Murat Shrine, Indianapolis, Grand Lodge F. & A.M. of Indiana; and an honorary life member of the Wabash and Erie Canal Association.
  In 1990, he donated 14 acres along the canal to the canal association.  The association honored him by proclaiming Sept. 22, 1990, as Lloyd VanScoy Day.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy VanScoy and Myrtle Johns VanScoy Ford, and one sister.
  Services were Sunday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. James Rankin officiating.  Burial was in Yeoman Cemetery with American Legion rites.
