Vera Holmes (Ledman)

Vera A. Ledman, 93, died at 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2003, at Regency Place, Lafayette. Born in Carroll County on Dec. 16, 1909, she was the daughter of Russell H. and Edith V. Harrison Holmes. She graduated from Delphi High School and Lafayette Business College. She moved to Lafayette in 1928 and married Dale Ledman on Dec. 15, of that year. He died on Aug. 1, 1983. Mrs. Ledman worked as a bookkeeper for Wells-Yeager-Best Pharmacy for 23 years and retired in 1976. She was a member of First Christian Church and Hope Chapter #5 of the Order Of The Eastern Star, and Order of the Amaranth #12 Anson Mills Lodge in Lebanon. Surviving is a son, Ralph D. Ledman of Lafayette, a daughter, Betty J. Ledman of Logansport; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson and a great-granddaughter. Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Services will be there on Oct. 9 at 10 a.m., with burial at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
