Walter Lowther - Class Of 1929

  Walter C. (Dutch) Lowther, 64, of Newton, formerly of Logansport and Delphi, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the VA Hospital, Danville, Ill.
  Born April 9, 1911, in Delphi, he was the son of Walter C and Minnie Lowther.  He was married July 3, 1946, to June Hughes, who survives.  She was home extension agent in this county for awhile.
  He had owned two grocery stores, one in Pittsburg and one in Rossville.  He was a member of the Newton United Methodist Church, a naval veteran of World War II, and was a graduate of Delphi High School and Purdue's Real Estate School.  He was also a member of the Quigle-Palin American Legion and the Richland Masonic Lodge.
  Surviving with the wife are his mother, Mrs. Minnie Lowther of Delphi; a daughter, Mrs. Melissa Coon of Veedersburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Pearson and Mrs. Edith Ashba, both of Delphi.
  Services were Monday in Hillsboro with the Rev. Donald A. Watson and Rev. Walter C. Williams officiating.  Burial was in the National Cemetery at the VA Hospital, Danville, Ill.
