Hazel Long (Herr) - Class Of 1929

Mrs. Hazel E. Herr, 57, of 1301 Rochelle Drive, Lafayette, died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday of last week at St. Elizabeth Hospital she had been ill five months, and entered the, hospital Sept. 21. Born near Delphi on Nov. 1, 1910, she, was the daughter of John and Nola McGuffin Long. She moved to Lafayette eight years ago. In 1927 at Delphi she was married to Maurice G. Herr, who is a maintenance man at the Purdue Hall of Music. Mrs. Herr was a member of the Kossuth Street Baptist Church. Surviving with the husband are six daughters, Mrs. Dale Craig of Rt. 2, Delphi; Mrs. Ivan Sparhawk of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Max Pearson of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Cora Sayre of Lafayette, Mrs. Tony Asoera of Elkhart and Miss Cheryle Herr at home; five sons, S. Sgt. Maurice G. Jr. in the U. S. Air Force stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S. D., Jack L. of West Carrollton, Ohio, Richard L. of Logansport, Leonard B. and Duane A. both of Lafayette; her mother, Mrs. Nola Long of Delphi; five sisters, Mrs. James Bussell and Mrs. Agnes Reed both of Delphi, Mrs. Joe Hill of Renton, Wash., Mrs. Betty Boone and Mrs. Fred Aveline both of Lafayette, and four brothers, Ruben Long of Kokomo, Merle Long of West Palm Beach, Fla., John Long of Lawton, Okla., and Eugene Long of Logansport, and 19 grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at Hippensteel Chapel in Lafayette. The Rev. Baden P. Rowe officiated and interment was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
