Word has been received of the death of Delphi native Betty Wason, 90, of Seattle, Wash. A journalist and author, she was present during the Nazi invasion of the Balkan Peninsula in 1939 and wrote about the invasion for a New York newspaper. She also wrote a widely acclaimed book on the early stages of the war in the Balkan Peninsula which was released in the early 1940s. She was a graduate of Delphi High School. Services and burial were in Seattle.
