  Mary E. Hobaugh Sholty, 82, formerly of Lafayette, died at 5:30 a.m. June 24, 1989, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi, where she had resided since March.  She had been in failing health since August.
  She was born Sept. 11, 1906, in Delphi, and moved to Lafayette in 1936.  Her marriage was March 24, 1934, in Delphi, to Fondo Edward Sholty, who died June 5, 1973.
  She was a member of Brown Street United Methodist Church, Lafayette, and the church's women's group.
  Surviving are a son, Edward Sholty, and a daughter, Anna K. Luff, both of Delphi; a brother, Charles Hobaugh of Allegan, Mich.; two sisters, Edith Plumb and Faye Vanderweilen, both of Lafayette; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
  Services were Tuesday in Lafayette with burial in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
  Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund.
