Delphi Citizen Delphi, Indiana November 29, 1962 RITES TODAY AT MONTICELLO FOR DR. JOHN CARNEY

Dr. John C. Carney, 58, prominent Monticello physician and a native of Delphi, died at White County Memorial hospital, Montivello, Monday night after an illness of three months. President of the Medical Staff of the White County Memorial hospital, Dr. Carney was active in many organizations including the White County Medical Society, Indiana State and American Medical Societies, the Masonic Lodge of Monticello, Royal and Select Masons of Logansport, Royal Arch Masons of Delphi; Shrine of Indianapolis; the American Legion, VFW and Delta Tan Delta Fraternity. Born in Delphi August 16, 1904, his parents were Dr. Calvin E. and Delphina Petigean Carney. He was graduated from Delphi high school and from Ind. University Medical School. A veteran of World War II, he was a charter member of the Kiwanis club of Monticello and a director of the Tippecanoe Country Club of Monticello. His marriage on October 2, 1927 was to Charlene Raub at Jacksonville, Illinois. Dr. Carney was a member of the Monticello Presbyterian church. Surviving with the widow are a son, John C. Jr., at home; a sister, Ruth Carney of Delphi; a nephew, John R. Carney of Delphi and a niece, Sharon Carney Heyse of Kenosha, Wisconsin; an aunt, Mrs. Effie Beale of Mulberry. Funeral rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Monticello Presbyterian church with the Rev. Wallace MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery.
