Esther Shirk Ray, 2230 Amelia Circle, Tallahassee, Florida, passed away November 23, following an automobile accident several weeks before. She was a former resident of Delphi and the daughter of James and Ora Newcomer Shirk. She was married to Dr. Royal Ray who is head of the advertising, public relations and communications department of the School of Business of Florida State University at Tallahassee, Florida. Mrs. Ray was a graduate of Delphi High School and Wisconsin University. She was an active member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames, American Association of University Women, Tallahassee Women’s Club, Presbyterian Church and P.E.O. Sorority. She was voted the Outstanding Woman of the year in Tallahassee in 1970. Her husband and son, John survive her. Funeral services and burial were in Florida.
