John Cartwright Wood, 77, 801 27th St., South Bend, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, April 25, 1982, while attending services at United Methodist Church in South Bend where he was a member.
  Born in Delphi September 6, 1904, he was the son of William Harter and Mary Opal Cartwright Wood.  Because of ill health he had retired from the parts department of Phefferman Cadillac in South Bend.  His marriage in 1932 was to Mary Mast.  He was a 1922 graduate of Delphi High School.  He was a member of Kiwanis and Masonic Lodge and active in Boy Scouts and Meals-On-Wheels.
  Surviving with the wife are one son, Michael of South Bend; one brother, Robert W. Wood of Delphi, and two grandchildren.  One brother, Charles A. Wood of Delphi, preceded him in death.
  Services were this morning at 10 a.m. at Hay Funeral Home in South Bend with burial there.
