George O. Loveland, 41, well known Delphi resident, died early Thursday afternoon at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Lafayette, after a year of ill health. Following, a major operation several months ago, Mr. Loveland returned to his home but failed to regain his strength. He was retumed to the hospital six weeks before his death. A prominent and well liked business man, Mr. Loveland, a barber, had been an employee of Harve Hoshaw for the past nine years. Previous to accepting this position he had worked at the shop of Harve and Ed Lynch here, and also in Lafayette, Battle Ground and Monon. He had been a barber for the past eighteen years. Born on March 12, 1902 in Tippecanoe county, he was the son of J. W. and Jessie Loveland. He received his education in the schools of Carroll county, graduating from the Delphi high school, class of 1923. While in school Mr, Loveland was active in vocational agriculture work and received a number of awards for prize live stock. He joined the Radnor Methodist church in 1915 later transfering his membeaship to Delphi. A member of the Mt. Olive Lodge No. 28, of the I.O.O.F. Lodge 174, and of the Delphi Encampment No. 127, Loveland had recently been named president of the Wabash Valley District No. 11 of the I.O.O.F. Married to Katherine Blue of Flora on Sept. 4, 1927, the two had made their home in Delphi since that time. Survivors include the widow, Katharine Loveland; his mother, Mrs. Jessie Loveland, of Delphi; and a brother, Rev. Clarence Loveland of Indianapolis. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, New Years Day, at the Delphi Methodist church with the Rev. Martin Schwein officiating. The Masons held ritualistic services at the church. Burial was made in the Masonic cemetery with Grimm and Sons in charge. The Delphi Citizen, Thursday, January 6,1944
