Irene Jacoby

Irene Jacoby, 85, died at 12:30 PM Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1991, in Regency Place Health Care, where she had lived the past two months. Born in Yeoman on Oct. 24, 1906, she graduated from Delphi High School in 1923, and from Indiana Business College. She lived in Lafayette most of her life. Miss Jacoby worked for Lafayette Bank and Trust Co. for more than 30 years as an assistant secretary and treasurer. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette, where she served as church organist for more than 25 years and was a member of Ruth Jordan Circle of the church. She served as bookkeeper for The Thrift Shop at Third and Alabama streets, was a member and past president of the Altrusa Club, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Chi sorority. She had been very active with the Tippecanoe County March of Dimes and the Easter Seal Society and had served as treasurer of the March of Dimes. Surviving is a sister, Marietta (Mrs. Andrew J.) Anderson of Lafayette; five nieces and six nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Amos and Harold Jacoby; and a sister, Kathalene Groninger. --Lafayette Journal & Courier, Thu 11/14/1991
