Robert Pearson

Mr. Robert E. “Bob" Pearson, 83, of 106 West Vine Street, Delphi, departed this life at 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 1989, at Birchwood Manor, Delphi, where he had been a resident for four months. Born November 11, 1905, in Carroll County, Indiana. he was the son of William O. Pearson and Elsie Schock. On June 12,1932, he was married in Pyrmont to Ethel E. Dubes, and she preceded him in passing on January 18. 1984. A 1924 graduate of Delphi High School, and a graduate of the former Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Mr. Pearson had founded R.E. Pearson Sales in 1935, selling electrical appliances and radios In the back of a business on West Franklin Street In Delphi. In 1937, after selling 30 gas ranges to rural residents, Mr. Pearson saw the potential in bottled gas, and purchased property in West Delphi where he developed a thriving Liquid Propane gas business which he operated until his retirement. Additionally, Mr. Pearson had set up a roller skating rink in West Delphi which was very popular in the 1950’s. Mr. Pearson was a member of the Delphi Christian Church, the Delphi Masonic Lodge. Mt. Olive, and the IOOF Lodge. Surviving are two sons. Wayne R. Pearson of Crystal River, Florida and William J. Pearson of Delphi; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Limp of Delphi; five grandchildren, one step grandson, and two greet grandchildren. Services for Mr. Robert E. Pearson were held on Saturday, July 22, 1989, at the Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, Pastor David Futrell officiating. Burial was In the Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
