Miss Ruth Carney, 65, a former Delphi resident, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello. She recently had made her home with a sister-in-law, the widow of Dr. John Carney of Monticello RR 2. Miss Carney, a retired school teacher, was born in Carroll County. She was a graduate of Delphi High School, attended Madame Blaker's Teacher's School in Indianapolis and also attended DePauw and Butler Universities. She taught school at Richmond, Hobart and New Castle, and then was a third grade teacher in Delphi for 30 years before retiring in 1956. She was a member of the Delphi Presbyterian Church, the Rose Chapter of Eastern Star, and Gamma Alpha and Tri Kappa Sororities. Survivors include two nephews, John C. Carney, Chicago, Ill., and John R. Carney, Monticello; a niece, Mrs. Sharon Keyse, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Final rites were held Tuesday afternoon at Jackson Funeral Home in Delphi. Rev. Wallace McDonald officiated and burial was made in the Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.
