Geraold Clawson - Class Of 1918

Mr Gearold L. Clawson, 89, of 201 West Summit Street, Delphi, departed this life on Saturday, September 30, 1989, at 11:00 p.m. in the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi, where he had resided for four weeks. Born May 5, 1900, in Carroll County, he was the son of Charles Clawson and Florence Smith. On August 30, 1922, he was married in Delphi to Grace A. Todd, and she preceded him in passing in 1974. A graduate of Delphi High School in 1918, Mr. Clawson had attended North Manchester and Purdue University, becoming a teacher. Following college Gearold taught grade school in Madison Township of Carroll County for several years, later going into the business of auto sales. Mr. Clawson owned and operated Clawson Chevrolet in Delphi for over 39 years, retiring in 1971. Mr. Clawson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Delphi, a life member of Mt Olive Masonic Lodge 48 in Delphi, a member of the IOOF Lodge 28 in Delphi, a former member and past president of the Delphi Lions Club, and active in the Indiana Automobile Dealers Association. Surviving are one son, Joe Clawson of Logansport; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Clawson of Indianapolis; one brother, Medford Clawson of Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Gillam of Route 4, Delphi; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. Services for Mr. Gearold L. Clawson will be held today, Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. in Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, the Rev. Brett Mouron and Rev. James Rankin officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery. Delphi.
