Dale Calvert

         Dale Preston Calvert, 61, retired Lafayette attorney and former publisher of the Lafayette Journal and Courier, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in Home hospital, Lafayette.  He had been ill for several months.  Since 1955 the family had maintained a winter home at Ft. Myers, Florida.

        A native of Madison township, Carroll county, he was born March 26, 1902 the son of William A. and Linda M. Rice Calvert.  His marriage to Carolyn Kirkpatrick of Delphi was in 1925.  A graduate of Indiana University School of Law in 1935, he had been the attorney for Marshall estate in Lafayette and during 1952-54 had been the publisher of the Courier, owned by the Marshalls.  He was a former director of the Lafayette Transit Company, a Past President of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, the Lafayette Community Fund and Kiwanis Club.  He was a member of the Holy Trinity English Lutheran church in Lafayette.

       Surviving with the widow is a brother, Dr. Raymond R. Calvert of route 2, Monticello.  He was a brother-in-law of Edna, John and Ruth Kirkpatrick of Delphi.

       Rites were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cornell funeral home with Rev. Henry C. Stoldorf officiating.  Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.
