Amy Conn (Bormuth)

Amy L. Bormuth, 91, Laporte, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 1992, at Countryside Place in Laporte. She was born May 21, 1900, in Rossville to Robert and Sarah Bowen Conn. An elementary teacher for 25 years, Mrs. Bormuth retired in 1966 from Laporte Community School Corporation. She graduated in 1949 from Manchester College and had resided in Laporte for 40 years. A member of First United Methodist Church, her other memberships included Daughters of the American Revolution, American Association of University Women, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Historical Society, Laporte Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Hospital Auxiliary, Senior Center, International Relations Club, and Common Cause. Surviving are three daughters, Ellen Robbins of Muncie, Patricia Finn of Carlsbad, Calif; and Carolyn Munro of Seattle, Wash.; a son, John R. Bormuth of Lombard, Ill.; a sister, Faith Conn of Delphi; two brothers, Harry Conn of Rockford, Ill., and Bowen Conn of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, three sisters, and four brothers. A memorial service was held Thursday in Laporte. Burial of ashes was in Rossville Cemetery.
