Leonard . "Jack" Austin, 87, died at 7:47 a.m. Sept. 15, 1989, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.
  Born in Carroll County Dec. 29, 1901, he was a son of Clarence and Sadie Austin.  In 1923, he was married to Minnie K. Simmons, who died in 1965.  He was married in 1968 to Grace O. Major, who died in 1982.
  Austin was a member of South Side Christian Church.  He retired from Continental Steel Corp. as an electrician where he had worked since 1934.
  Survivors include a son, Calvin E. "Gene" Austin of Lansing, Mich.; a daughter, Betty J. Hobbs of Kokomo; a stepdaughter, Helen Leslie of Toledo; a sister, Esther Newmann of Lakeland, Fla.; five grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several step-great grandchildren.  A step daughter and two sisters preceded him in death.
