Irene McArdle (Bauer)

Mrs Carl Bauer, Wife of City Electrician, Victim of Blood Poising - Native of Delphi - Sincere regret was expressed throughout the community when news was received here of the death of Mrs Irene Elizabeth Bauer, wife of Carl Bauer, city electrician, which occurred at 8:12 o’clock Saturday night at the Butterwoth Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan. The body was brought back to Lafayette Sunday night over the Monon railroad and was taken to the Sollor Undertaking parlors to be prepared for burial. With her husband, Mrs Bauer left Lafayette several weeks ago for a visit with the former’s brother, George Bauer, and family at Grand Rapids. While there Mrs Bauer was stricken with blood poisoning and was removed to the hospital. Her condition at first not regarded as serious, became critical Thursday noon and she steadily grew worse until the end came. Mrs Bauer was the only daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert McArdle, of Delphi, having been born in that city March 28, 1902. She was educated in the schools there and later came to Lafayette where she took a course in nursing at the Home hospital, being a member of the 1923 graduating class at that institution. She was of a very amiable disposition and made many friends among her patients as well as fellow workers. She remained at the hospital here until her marriage to Mr Bauer on June 24, 1924. Surviving are her husband and parents. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Bauer home, 1943 Greenbush street, and at 2:30 o’clock at the Brown street M E Church. Rev R H F Ackerman, pastor, will officiate, assisted by Rev R H Kimberlin, of St Paul’s M E Church. Interment will be in Springvale Cemetery.
